The Prince Rupert Special Events Society coordinates and produces the community festivals that Rupertites know and love - the Children's Festival, Seafest, Canada Day and Winterfest. The success of this organization, like any not for profit society, is based on the many dedicated volunteers that help plan and manage these festivals each year. It takes as many as 300 total volunteers to put on the these festivals and events that benefit not only the community of Prince Rupert, but that also bring in regional tourists from surrounding areas.

Special Events is looking to build up their base of volunteers, and they want to know more about how to encourage Prince Rupert residents to come out to volunteer for these annual community festivals that are an integral part of our social fabric.

The City is collecting this information on behalf of Prince Rupert Special Events Society, and information will be shared with them in order to build a solid base of volunteers. All usernames will be removed from comments, and no identifying information will be provided unless participants are interested in volunteering, and consent to having their email contact information shared.

Survey respondents will be entered into a draw to win one of five limited edition 2019 Seafest t-shirts. All survey responses must be entered by May 31st.

Plus - there are added perks to volunteering! If you sign up to volunteer this Seafest, for every four hours worked on the Friday/Saturday, you'll get one entry to win one of six spots on Ocean Pacific Air's seaplanes during the Flypast on June 9th. The draw box will be located at the volunteer sign up station. (Thank you Ocean Pacific Air for your generous donation!)

Arrr! Ahoy, Mateys! The Prince Rupert Special Events Society would like to welcome everyone to Prince Rupert’s 41st annual SEAFEST community festival. This year we are celebrating as “Happy Pirates of the Pacific”! From June 7th to 9th you will find an awesome array of weekend activities to participate in or spectate at with your family and friends.

Seafest is held annually on the second weekend in June and is one of the largest community festivals in northwest B.C. which brings families and neighbours and visitors together to enjoy community comradery and to celebrate our lives by the sea.

Through the three days, volunteers organize and coordinate a parade, outdoor music bandstands, and a day of downtown activities and another day of ocean waterfront events. Hundreds of volunteers from organizations, associations, businesses and government sectors host an amazing array of activities and events.

We boast the tastiest shishkabobs and ethnic fare in B.C. and provide a chance to whack your favourite politician or teacher in the pie-throwing or dunk tank! Bring your children to fish at the Children's Bullhead Derby, or adults enter into the Swim for Survival race. But whichever event is your passion to have fun with, we welcome everyone to come to Prince Rupert to join in with the other buccaneers and have a

    “yo ho ho” good time!

If you would like to volunteer, host an event, become a vendor, or put a float in the parade, please call Special Events at 250.624.9118 and check out our website at www.prspecialevents.com. We look forward to seeing you June 7th to 9th in Prince Rupert, enjoying the Seafest festivities.
