Connect Rupert: Complete Communities Survey
In July 2023, the City of Prince Rupert completed a city-wide transportation plan, Connect Rupert, to help shape the future of transportation in Prince Rupert.
To support Connect Rupert's recommendations, the City is undertaking an assessment of its existing road and sidewalk network. This assessment will help the City plan for future infrastructure and policy improvements that will enable community members to live healthier lifestyles on walkable and safe streets.
This study is being completed as part of the Complete Community Initiatives, funded by the Union for BC Municipalities. It will build on the City’s existing plans, including Connect Rupert, Rupert Plays (Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Plan), the Asset Management and Infrastructure Replacement Strategy, and the new Official Community Plan.
The feedback from this survey will be used to form a better understanding of the community’s priorities, barriers, and needs for creating a walkable and complete community.
The survey focuses on your ability to safely walk to different types of amenities that meet your daily needs. Amenities in this context refer to private businesses, services, civic institutions, and recreational areas that you may use on a regular basis, including grocery stores, restaurants, doctor offices, childcare, and parks, among others. Information on the types of amenities you need within walking distance will allow us to better measure how walkable Prince Rupert is and where future infrastructure investments should occur.
