The City of Prince Rupert is excited to launch public engagement for the planning of a new community playground. Through our Parks and Outdoor Recreation Plan, Rupert Plays, community members have told us that accessible and high quality recreation spaces are an important priority as our population grows.

We understand how much existing playgrounds such as Moose Tot Park and the playground at Mariners Memorial Park mean to families across Prince Rupert. Community input also highlighted the waterfront as a favourite place to gather and play, with strong interest in more opportunities to enjoy this important part of our community.

As we begin designing this new playground, we want to hear directly from community members. We will be asking for ideas on play structures, themes, types of play, and the ages of play the new space should support. This feedback will also help us meet our accessibility goals by ensuring the playground is welcoming and inclusive for people of all ages and abilities.

We encourage community members, especially families, caregivers, and youth, to take part in this engagement. Your ideas will help shape a fun, inclusive, and vibrant new space for Prince Rupert.
