Consultation has concluded
Please note that the intake for testing has now closed. If you have signed up as a potential participant, please note that only the 75 randomly selected residents will be contacted directly to arrange pick up of the testing kit and explain your next steps. If you were not selected, but are still interested in finding out your results, tests can be purchased for $38.85 (GST included) from Norlabs at 530 3rd Ave West.
The City of Prince Rupert and Northern Health are teaming up to help you better understand water quality in your home. We are looking for up to 75 households in the community to participate in a free water quality testing program that will help test for metal contaminants in your home water supply.
If you do not know the composition of the plumbing system in your home or business, you are encouraged to run your taps until they run cold any time that water is left to sit, or you are using water for consumption or preparing food. This will ensure you are receiving a fresh source of water from beyond the building, and flush out any water that may have been contaminated with lead after sitting stagnant in your plumbing system. For a full list of Frequently Asked Questions, as well as an informational video on this topic - see the column to the right on this page. The page also has several informational resources and videos on water quality in general, listed in the same column.
