Prince Rupert Climate Action Plan Survey

From cold snaps to flash floods to high winds, local weather is becoming more unpredictable and extreme. Many of these changes, along with disasters like landslides and floods, are shaped by the changing climate.

The City of Prince Rupert is developing the Climate Adaptation and Action Plan (CAAP) to reduce the risk of these hazards and prevent harm to our community. The CAAP will be presented to the City Council in the fall. We are looking for your input to prioritize actions that will help our community become more resilient to extreme weather and climate hazards such as flooding, wildfires, and smoke. The survey will take between 10 and 15 minutes depending on your level of interest. At the end, you will have an opportunity to be entered in a draw for a $100 grocery gift card for completing this survey.

The City has developed various possible actions to decrease the community’s vulnerability to climate hazards. We would like your input on these actions, how they might affect you, and what kind of support you might need to improve your resilience. We are also interested to learn about what residents are already doing to support each other, and how we can further encourage these kinds of community and neighbourhood initiatives. You will also have an opportunity to offer general feedback and ideas.

Feedback collected in this survey and through other engagement activities will help inform Prince Rupert’s Climate Adaptation and Action Plan. A report summarizing the survey results will be published on Rupert Talks.
