Proposed Cannabis Retail Locations

Consultation has concluded

The City of Prince Rupert has put into place regulations regarding the retail sale of cannabis in our community. As a component of our regulations, people seeking to open a cannabis retail store must provide notice to area residents before Council will consider their application. These notices will be sent by mail to those within a 50 metre radius of the proposed retail location. There will also be a notice printed in the local newspaper with a date/time when Council will be considering the application, and when the public will be given the opportunity to speak.

This space will enhance, but not replace, that formal notification process. Here, the City will share information on proposed application locations in the map above, provide dates for public feedback, and the status of applications.

Once Council decides whether to approve a business licence, the decision is forwarded to the Provincial Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch, who have final say on whether to issue a retail licence.
