This public budget page has been developed as a resource to share budget information, engagement opportunities, and for us to solicit feedback on the City’s priorities and constraints. Want to know more about our ongoing plans for waterline replacements? Changes to revenues and expenses? The proposed tax rate based on planned services and capital projects for 2026? Details on specific proposed projects within the City’s budget? This is your one-stop-shop to learn more.

For the third year, we are holding public budget consultations in the Fall instead of Spring to enable City staff to proceed with purchasing for the upcoming year and to provide additional information to the community to inform their own budgets. See below for the Budget timeline and how you can participate!

Prince Rupert City Council will receive the 2026 Proposed Budget at the Regular Council meeting of October 27th, where the full budget/document will be reviewed with Council and released to the public, alongside our budget simulation software where we collect direct input on public spending. That software will be open until November 14th.

November 10th will be the first opportunity for the public to come and ask questions about proposed spending. In addition to this public session will be a second opportunity at the Council meeting on November 24th. Staff will review input and provide it to Council, with the intent to seek direction on the Budget for 2026 in December. Plus, you'll have an additional opportunity to speak directly to City staff at our open house at the Raven Youth Lounge of the Rec Complex from 5-6 pm on Thursday, November 13th.

Can't attend the session but have questions and/or want to weigh in? Check out our Balancing Act public budget software that allows you to directly weigh in on spending priorities (open October 28th until November 14th - link to be provided here once available), email finance@princerupert.ca or call (250) 627 0935.

On this page, learn more about key budget timelines and processes, view documents, and more.
